Some Tips to Save Fuel this Summer
Summer has arrived, and it is time to lower the windows and finally enjoy the sun. It’s also vacation time, and many motorists will hit the road and head to the cottage or beach over the next few months.

Of course, more driving means more fuel consumption. There are however several ways to reduce the impact of our more frequent travel on the fuel bill by following some simple tips.

Check the Tires

Being the only points of contact between your vehicle and the road, it is normal for our tires to affect many aspects of our vehicle's behavior, including fuel consumption. The tires must be inflated to the right pressure in order to obtain the best possible fuel consumption.

Follow the Speed Limits

Following the speed limit will have a very positive impact on the fuel efficiency of our vehicle. Indeed, reducing our driving speed on the highway by 20 km/h can reduce our average fuel consumption rating by more than one liter per 100 kilometers. Multiply that by the thousands of kilometers you travel annually, and the amount saved becomes significant.

When and How to Use Air Conditioning

The rule is simple. When driving around the city, lower the windows to refresh the passenger compartment instead of using air conditioning. That said, when driving on the highway, it is more economical to do the opposite. Roll up the windows and use the air-conditioning system to keep the cabin cooled. At higher speeds, lowering the windows increases air resistance, which results in greater fuel consumption.
